Welcome to Guy's User Experience Pages

Current Job Status

My current engagement is full time and open ended. I'm always interested in excellent new opportunities, but I cannot be available immediately.

What I Do

I have been called a digital strategist, user experience (UX) planner and designer, interaction designer, information architect, content strategist, and information designer, and these are just some of the many hats I've worn. In the end, it's all about selecting the most effective channel and designing the most effective message (or tools) for your desired target audience(s).

The projects I work on may encompass some or all of the following:

  • one-and-done or ongoing expert review and consultation
  • project brainstorming and planning facilitation
  • focus groups and/or user testing facilitation
  • identification and personification of target audience
  • requirements documents (user, business, or functional)
  • information architecture
  • user interface design
  • content strategy
  • search engine optimization (SEO)
  • prototype testing
  • oversight of visual design
  • oversight of implementation teams
  • establishing ongoing maintenance and/or evolutionary plans

I'm also an expert in enterprise-level web sites and the human systems and processes that support them. I understand how most enterprise-level sites have "frankensteined together" multiple corporate departments and content producers (not to mention back-end systems) to create a confusing experience for the end user who doesn't understand your corporate structure nor your political and technical constraints. I can help you make sense of where you are today and help chart a course toward making user and business requirements the primary driving factors in your web design processes.

What Drives Me

The driving forces in my life are quality, satisfaction, and caring about people. I'm committed to producing high quality deliverables, but I also believe it's not worth the cost if you're not enjoying the process to get there. A happy team with reasonable and clearly communicated goals will consistently produce good results on time and within budget. I believe working smarter is more important than working harder.

My strongest skills revolve around communication, organization, planning, and design. I love to facilitate project teams from brainstorming and conceptualization all the way through implementing a viable solution. I have a proven background in understanding how people think, analyzing their needs, and meeting them. I bring these talents to bear on any project I'm involved with, and that's what I enjoy doing.

From day one, I knew our project was in good hands with Guy. He was able to take our raw thoughts, organize them, improve them, and turn that into a great website. His patience and diligence throughout the entire process were outstanding, and I hope to have the opportunity to work with him again.
